What's the old saying? "Nothing is certain in life, except Death and Taxes" - well, the Tax Man paid a visit to FLOG in April and good naturedly took the swats dished out by those wanting to vent and to get some pre-tax day stress relief. In addition to that scene, our DM gave a preview of an upcoming class he was going to teach involving "predicament" play - think three subs attached to each other and various pulley's, ropes, a "zipper", and a water bottle/pump. It was unique and a lot of fun...the rest of the evening was busy with all pieces of equipment being used during the evening.
On a serious note, we all breathed a little easier when the evening went off without any sign or hint of the problems from a right-wing religious group that were threatening others in the community. Their protests, at other events, just strengthed the resolve of those in attendance to support the lifestyle and the BDSM community, and polarized several different views of the community of BDSM.
Because of the Memorial Day weekend, we opted to have our party in May earlier in the month than we usually did. We started the evening again with a session for questions and answers for those new to the scene, the area or just to our group. We had a great turnout for the early session with about 20 people attending a round-table discussion with Doms, subs and switches well represented. There was a basic flogging demonstration and the evening contained some fun scenes to watch. Even though the party was early we had nearly 75 in attendance for a wonderful evening.
June was a busy month for the group because we had two events in the month. The month started with FLOG's Third Annual Picnic which was held on June 1 - this event has come to be a fun event outside of the play party that helps to celebrate the birth of the Marquis de Sade, whose birth was on June 2, 1740 - it was a warm, beautiful afternoon with good food and good company. And we used the seclusion of the location to try out a few whips and other toys brought by those attending.
The birthday celebration continued on June 22 with our regular monthly play party with more than 85 people in attendance. Announcements were made about upcoming demos and HOT night session which will involve classes on the use of single tail whips in a scene, pony play and the Halloween party.
