Frequently Asked Questions about the Fetish Lifestyle Open Group

  1. Q. Do you need to have experience to attend FLOG?

    A. Absolutely not, but you do have to be at least 21, and a member of the Announcements List. The FLOG Social/Play Party is open to all members of the Announcements List. It is NOT open to the Public off the street; you must have an invitation to attend.

We were all new at one time, and FLOG's main goal is to provide a safe and nurturing atmosphere for those who attend a Social/Play whether they are new people that are seeking help and guidance in this lifestyle or "old folks" still looking to learn. The experience level in FLOG ranges from beginners to people who have 20+ years of experience.

  3. Q. What happens at the FLOG Social/Play Party?

    A. People from all walks of life, who have a genuine interest in learning and living this lifestyle, gather to socialize, and for those interested in doing so, play. Some attending will be engaged in varying forms of play, within the guidelines of the rules, while others will be watching and learning. And still others will continue socializing.

  4. Q. What is the venue like?

    A. The Hall is basically just like any other location that you would rent for varying functions, such as a wedding or a company Christmas party. FLOG rents a private room, with our own restrooms; 1/3 of the space is set up for play, the rest set up for meeting people, observing and learning. There is a vendor section where vendors, independent of the Group, sell leather goods, shoes and clothing. FLOG attendees must always be properly attired (aka street legal) when entering and exiting the Social/Play Party.

  5. Q. Does the Hall know what we're doing?

    A. The owner is very aware of what FLOG is and what the attendees do, and have been doing for 16+ years. The owner has a copy of this group's rules. Adherence to those rules, the laws of the municipality and the laws of the State of Missouri are followed carefully. Those not adhering to the rules and etiquette are asked to leave.

  6. Q. What is the dress attire for the party?

    A. While fetish attire is totally acceptable and encouraged, we ask that you cover up when not in the private area and are "street legal" coming and going from the building. Once inside the FLOG room, you may wear anything you like within the limits of the rules (based on Missouri law, which says that nipples and genitals must be covered). Typical dress ranges from fetish-wear (leather, corsets, PVC, etc.) to regular street clothes. First and foremost, wear what makes you feel comfortable.

  7. Q. What do I bring to the FLOG open party?

    A. Basically you just bring yourself and your toys. The Hall has a cash bar, but no food.

  8. Q. What if I don't have a partner, can I still go?

    A. You don't need a partner/s to attend. The Social/Play Party will offer you the ability to meet and mingle with others in the lifestyle. But, just by attending, you can learn different techniques and ask questions, thereby furthering your knowledge of this lifestyle. Attending the Social is a good way to meet others in the local scene.

  9. Q. Do I have to RSVP?

    A. If you are a first time member, yes. FLOG's Social/Play Party is open to members who have joined the announcements list, been vetted, and received an invitation. That process is relatively easy and there is no cost to join. This enables us to get an accurate headcount, provide directions, familiarize ourselves with the new participants, and most importantly, ensure the safety of the attendees.

  10. Q. How much does it cost?

    A. We do not charge a fee to join FLOG or to attend a party. Donations are accepted happily, but you won't be turned away if you don't donate as long as you have a formal invitation to be there (whether hard copy or electronic).

  11. Q. What if I feel uncomfortable or frightened, what do I do?

    A. For any FLOG event, there are designated Dungeon Monitors (DM's). These Monitors will be announced and introduced at the beginning of each gathering. If for any reason, you should feel uncomfortable about a person, situation, or scene, you are to contact a Monitor immediately. FLOG does not allow any type of pressure or harassment to play. If you would like an escort to your car, please contact a Monitor. They will be happy to walk you to your car.

  12. Q. Are there rules and if so, what are they?

    A. The rules have been set in place to provide a safe environment for everyone who attends. These are posted at each FLOG event in plain view. In addition to the rules, an etiquette list is also posted to provide helpful suggestions to enable more cordial relationships. We're serious about the rules and etiquette and expect members to be serious about them as well.

  13. Q. Can I sell my handmade things at the party?

    A. If you are a vendor or craft-maker and wish to share your wares with the group, you are more than welcome. Anyone wishing to do this must have let us know they will be vending at the event by sending an email to StLouisFLOG@gmail.com.

NOTE: The purchase and selling of items is an action strictly between the two parties, and FLOG does not warrant the merchandise, nor does it receive any money from any vendor.

  14. Q. Is what FLOG does legal?

    A. We work very hard at following the laws of both the municipality where the Hall is located and the state of Missouri. City Hall and the police department were contacted when the group started, and the founding group was assured that the group would not be breaking any laws or ordinances as long as there was no nudity, sex, prostitution, and no drug use or selling. As we are a private group, and not a business, there is no need to acquire a business license or permit through this municipality for FLOG functions.
